OpenBSD has accepted changes implementing a port for the RISC-V architecture. Currently, support is limited to the OpenBSD kernel and further development is needed for the system to function fully. In its current form, the OpenBSD kernel can boot in a RISC-V emulator based on QEMU and hand over control to the init process. Future plans include the implementation of multiprocessor support (SMP), enabling system boot in a multi-user mode, and adapting user space components (libc, libcompiler_rt). <\/p>\n
It is worth noting that RISC-V provides an open and flexible machine instruction set that allows for the creation of microprocessors for a wide range of applications without requiring royalties or imposing usage conditions. RISC-V enables the creation of fully open SoCs and processors. Currently, multiple designs of microprocessor cores, SoCs, and manufactured chips are being developed by various companies and communities based on the RISC-V specification under different open licenses (BSD, MIT, Apache 2.0).
