The concept of Lean Data is applied in data collection, which emphasizes collecting only the minimum necessary data, and doing everything possible to protect the collected data. Data is encrypted before transmission, and on servers<\/a> are stored in secure systems with restricted access. The platform-related source texts are distributed under the Apache 2.0 license and are available for auditing. <\/p>\n

Researchers only access information related to their study and are required to adhere to procedures for safe data handling. Only reputable research groups with proven trustworthiness, proper qualifications, and a signed special agreement with Mozilla outlining the requirements for handling received data are permitted to participate.
