New package releases are available, forming the GNUstep framework designed for developing cross-platform graphical and server applications using APIs similar to Apple's Cocoa. In addition to libraries with implementations of AppKit and components of the Foundation framework, the project also develops tools for interface design like Gorm and the ProjectCenter development environment, aimed at creating portable equivalents of InterfaceBuilder, ProjectBuilder, and Xcode. The primary development language is Objective-C, but GNUstep can also be used with other languages. GNUstep GUI Library 0.29.0 \u2014 a library encompassing classes for creating a graphical user interface, based on the Apple Cocoa API, including classes implementing various types of buttons, lists, input fields, windows, error handlers, and functions for handling colors and images. The GNUstep GUI Library consists of two parts \u2014 a frontend that is platform and window system independent, and a backend that removes elements specific to graphical systems.\n
GNUstep GUI Backend 0.29.0 \u2014 a set of backends for the GNUstep GUI Library that implement support for X11 and the Windows graphic subsystem. A key innovation of this release is initial support for graphical systems based on the Wayland protocol.
