The release of the Linux distribution OpenIPC 2.1 has been published, designed for use in surveillance cameras instead of the stock firmware, most of which stop receiving updates from manufacturers over time. The release is positioned as experimental and, unlike the stable branch, is built not on the OpenWRT package base, but using buildroot. The project's developments are distributed under the MIT license. Firmware images have been prepared for IP cameras based on Hisilicon Hi35xx, SigmaStar SSC335, XiongmaiTech XM510, and XM530 chips. <\/p>\n

The proposed firmware offers features such as support for hardware motion detectors, a proprietary implementation of the RTSP protocol for streaming video from a single camera to more than 10 clients simultaneously, the possibility of utilizing hardware support for h264\/h265 codecs, audio support with a sampling rate of up to 96kHz, the ability to transcode JPEG images on the fly for progressive scanning, and support for Adobe DNG RAW format, which addresses computational photography tasks. <\/p>\n
