The popular proprietary password manager 1Password offers comprehensive support for the Linux platform, including integration with GNOME, KDE, and any window managers. A tray applet is available for password management. It supports distributions like Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, Fedora, Arch Linux, and RHEL. Additionally, self-contained packages in snap format and a universal build delivered in a .tar.gz archive are available. <\/p>\n

Notable features include automatic activation of the dark theme based on the selected GTK theme, support for external resource access via FTP, SSH, and SMB, integration with the X11 clipboard, support for GNOME Keyring and KDE Wallet, a DBUS-based API, and command-line controls, as well as integration with screen savers and services triggered during system inactivity. <\/p>\n

For secure interaction between components, such as the desktop password manager and the browser, the Linux kernel provides a key storage solution. The Linux version also introduces some innovations not yet present in the releases for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android: secure file attachment, document archiving, an interface for visual security assessment of passwords, access logging, a quick search feature, and a new interface design concept. <\/p>\n

The application code is written in Rust using the Ring module for encryption, the Electron platform, and the React framework for the interface. The project has also released two packages in preparation for the creation of the Linux version \u2014 electron-secure-defaults and electron-hardener, which include components to enhance the security of applications using the Electron platform. 1Password is a proprietary paid product, but developers of any open-source projects are given the opportunity to use the software for free (a pull request must be submitted), including unlimited access to the Secrets Automation service.
