Raymond Hill, the creator of the uBlock Origin content blocking system, has released a new version of the browser extension uMatrix 1.4.2, which offers capabilities for blocking external resources, similar to a firewall. This update has been released as an exception, despite the fact that the development of the extension was halted last year. The formation of this new release does not indicate the resumption of development\u2014after the publication of uMatrix 1.4.2, the repository has been returned to archive mode. <\/p>\n

The new release fixes a common vulnerability shared with uBlock Origin that could lead to crashes or memory exhaustion when navigating to specially crafted URLs.
