The Apache Software Foundation has announced the release of the Apache OpenMeetings 6.1 web conferencing server, which allows for audio and video conferencing over the Web, as well as collaborative work and messaging among participants. It supports both webinars with a single speaker and conferences with any number of participants interacting simultaneously. The project's code is written in Java and is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license. <\/p>\n

Additional features include tools for integration with a calendar scheduler, sending individual or bulk notifications and invitations, shared access to files and documents, maintaining a participant address book, keeping meeting minutes, collaborative task planning, streaming the output of running applications (screencast demonstrations), and conducting polls and surveys. <\/p>\n

One server<\/a> It can service an arbitrary number of conferences held in separate virtual conference rooms and including its own set of participants. The server supports flexible management tools and a powerful conference moderation system. Management and interaction between participants is conducted through a web interface. The OpenMeetings code is written in Java. MySQL and PostgreSQL can be used as the DBMS. <\/p>\n
