The Document Foundation has released LibreOffice 7.2. Ready installation packages are available for various Linux distributions, Windows, and macOS. In the release preparation, 70% of the changes have been made by employees from project-partner companies such as Collabora, Red Hat, and Allotropia, while 30% of the changes were contributed by independent enthusiasts. <\/p>\n
The release of LibreOffice 7.2 is marked with the label 'Community', and it will be supported by enthusiasts, not aimed at enterprise use. LibreOffice Community is freely available to everyone without exception, including corporate users. For enterprises in need of additional services, products from the LibreOffice Enterprise family are being developed, for which partner companies will provide full support, the ability to receive long-term updates (LTS), and additional features such as SLAs (Service Level Agreements). <\/p>\n

Initial support for GTK4 has been added. <\/li>\n
The OpenGL rendering code has been removed in favor of using Skia\/Vulkan. <\/li>\n
A pop-up interface for searching settings and commands in the style of MS Office has been added, displayed over the current image (heads-up display, HUD).

A dark theme has been added, which can be enabled through the menu 'Alternative Tools \u2794 Options \u2794 LibreOffice \u2794 Application Colors'.

A section for managing Fontwork font effects has been added to the sidebar.

The main Notebookbar has implemented the ability to scroll elements within the styles selection block. <\/li>\n

In MS Word-compatible mode for rendering table borders, support for merged cells has been improved. When exporting a document to PDF, bidirectional links between bookmarks and footnotes are preserved. By default, spell checking for indexes is disabled. In the Image Properties dialog (Format \u2794 Image \u2794 Properties\u2026 \u2794 Image), the file type of the image is displayed. <\/p>\n
ODT files now support formatting strings for lists, allowing for complex numbering rules from DOCX documents. <\/li>\n
Font caching has been improved for faster text rendering. <\/li>\n
In the Calc spreadsheet, performance optimization has been carried out: inserting formulas with VLOOKUP functions has been accelerated, opening XLSX files and scrolling have been sped up, and the operation of filters has been improved. The Kahan summation algorithm has been implemented, which reduced the number of numerical errors when calculating totals with certain functions. New options have been added to highlight only visible rows and columns (Edit \u2794 Select). In HTML tables displayed in the External Data dialog (Sheet \u2794 Link to External Data\u2026), headers are shown to simplify table identification.

A new cursor form 'fat-cross' has been implemented, which can be enabled through the menu 'Tools \u2794 Options \u2794 Calc \u2794 View \u2794 Themed'.

A list view mode with sorting options by name, category, date, modules, and size has been added to the document template dialog.
