Valve has released version 6.3-7 of the Proton project, which is based on the work of the Wine project and aims to enable the running of gaming applications created for Windows on Linux, available in the Steam catalog. The project's developments are licensed under the BSD license. <\/p>\n

Proton allows you to run gaming applications available only for Windows directly in the Steam Linux client. The package includes implementations of DirectX 9\/10\/11 (based on the DXVK package) and DirectX 12 (based on vkd3d-proton), which work by translating DirectX calls to the Vulkan API. It provides improved game controller support and the ability to use fullscreen mode regardless of the screen resolutions supported by the games. To enhance the performance of multi-threaded games, it supports the mechanisms of 'esync' (Eventfd Synchronization) and 'futex\/fsync'. <\/p>\n
