A new version of the dual-pane file manager Double Commander 1.0.0 is available, aiming to replicate the functionality of Total Commander and ensure compatibility with its plugins. Three user interface options are offered \u2014 based on GTK2, Qt4, and Qt5. The code is available under the GPLv2 license. <\/p>\n

Notable features of Double Commander include the execution of all operations in the background, support for batch file renaming by mask, a tabbed interface, dual-panel mode with vertical or horizontal panel placement, a built-in text editor with syntax highlighting, handling archives as virtual directories, advanced search tools, customizable panels, support for Total Commander plugins in WCX, WDX, and WLX formats, and a file operation logging feature. <\/p>\n

The version number change to 1.0.0 results from reaching the maximum value of the second digit, which, according to the version numbering logic applied in the project, led to the switch to version number 1.0 after 0.9.
