Although Tcl is primarily used for creating user interfaces and as an embedded language, it is also suitable for other tasks. For example, for web development, creating network applications, system administration, and testing. The project code is distributed under the BSD license.    <\/p>\n<p>In the new version:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Tk continues to work on improving support for the macOS platform. Compatibility with macOS 12.1 'Monterey' has been ensured. Support for pixel formats has been enhanced.\n<li class=\"l\"> A new virtual event 'TkWorldChanged' has been implemented.\n<li class=\"l\"> New keyboard codes CodeInput, SingleCandidate, MultipleCandidate, PreviousCandidate have been added.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for the error code EILSEQ, defined in the POSIX standard, has been added.\n<li class=\"l\"> The vulnerability CVE-2021-35331 has been fixed, which allowed code execution while processing specially formatted files by the nmakehelp utility.\n<li class=\"l\"> A series of issues leading to freezing or crashing has been resolved.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for Unicode 14 specification has been added. Some string operations on Emoji have been implemented.\n<li class=\"l\"> The included base packages have been updated: Itcl 4.2.2, sqlite3 3.36.0, Thread 2.8.7, TDBC* 1.1.3, dde 1.4.4, platform
