Schleswig-Holstein, a region in northern Germany, aims to eliminate dependency on a single vendor by transitioning all government employees' computers, including teachers in schools, to open-source software. In the first phase, by the end of 2026, they plan to replace MS Office with LibreOffice, followed by a migration from Windows to Linux. The migration will affect about 25,000 computers across various government institutions and will take into account the issues encountered during the transition to Linux in the government institutions of Munich. <\/p>\n

The migration decision has already been reviewed by the Schleswig-Holstein parliament and confirmed in an interview with the region's digital technology minister. It is noted that the transition to open-source software is already in progress\u2014currently, the switch to the open platform for video conferencing Jitsi has been carried out, and for the past two years, testing of LibreOffice and browser-based solutions based on the open package Phoenix (OnlyOffice, nextCloud, Matrix) has been ongoing.
