The LLVM project announced the shift from its mailing list system to the website llvm.discourse.group based on the Discourse platform for developer communication and announcement publication. By January 20, all archives of previous discussions will be migrated to the new platform. Mailing lists will switch to read-only mode on February 1. This transition will facilitate easier communication for newcomers, structure discussions in llvm-dev, and enable full moderation and spam filtering. Participants who do not wish to use the web interface and mobile application can utilize the email interaction gateway provided in Discourse. <\/p>\n

The Discourse platform offers a system of linear discussions designed to replace mailing lists, web forums, and chat applications. It supports topic separation based on tags, notifications for replies to messages, real-time updates of message lists in threads, dynamic content loading as users scroll, the ability to subscribe to topics of interest, and reply via email. The system is built using Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework, with data stored in PostgreSQL and fast caching in Redis. The code is distributed under the GPLv2 license.
