The release of the sane-backends package 1.1.1 has been prepared, which includes a set of drivers, the command-line utility scanimage, a daemon for organizing network scanning (saned), and libraries implementing the SANE-API. The project's code is distributed under the GPLv2 license. <\/p>\n
The package supports 1747 (in the previous version 1652) models of scanners, of which 815 (737) have full functionality support status, 780 (766) are rated as good, 129 (126) are acceptable, and 23 (23) have minimal support. Additionally, there is an unfinished driver implementation available for 462 (464) devices. Support for 470 (478) scanners remains unimplemented. <\/p>\n
The release of version 1.1.1 following 1.0.32 marked a change in the version numbering model. Instead of continuous mixed numbering for significant and minor releases (1.0.30, 1.0.31, 1.0.32), the second digit in the version number (1.1.0, 1.2.0, 1.3.0, etc.) will now be changed for major releases, and the third digit (1.1.2, 1.1.3) will change for corrective updates. Release 1.1.0 was skipped due to a bug discovered late in the release process. <\/p>\n

Scanner support for Epson has been improved. In the epson2 backend, support has been established for scanners that do not support the 'focus' command, and reliability during long scanning operations has been enhanced. Support for more than 50 new models and series of Epson scanners has been added:\n
The escl backend has added support for devices Canon PIXMA TR4520, Canon PIXMA TR7500, Brother DCP-J772DW, and Epson ET-2750, and also marked as supported are the series Canon PIXMA G4511, Canon PIXMA TR4550, Canon PIXMA TR4551, and Epson ET-6100.\n
In the Genesys backend, the quality of scanning on Canon LiDE 35\/40\/50\/60 devices has been improved by enabling a brighter highlighting mode. The quality of grayscale scanning on Canon LiDE 110, 120, 210, and 220 scanners has also been enhanced. Support for the Plustek Opticfilm 7200 v2 scanner has been established. Processing of button presses on the HP ScanJet G4010 scanner has been added. There is now the capability to launch on embedded systems without multi-threading support. The backend code is now provided under the clean GPLv2+ license without additional exceptions expanding the usage area.\n
Support for the Reflecta RPS 10M scanner has been added in the pieusb backend.\n
In the pixma backend, the supported devices Canon PIXMA G4511, Mark GX6000, GX7000, TS5400, and MX455 have been marked.\n
