With the release of version 0.2, the toolkit for creating graphical interfaces SixtyFPS has been renamed to Slint. The rename was prompted by user criticism of the SixtyFPS name, which caused confusion and ambiguity when sending queries to search engines, as well as not reflecting the purpose of the project. The new name was chosen during discussions with the community on GitHub, where users suggested new names. <\/p>\n

The authors of the library (Olivier Goffart and Simon Hausmann) are former KDE developers who later joined Trolltech to work on Qt and have now established their own company to develop Slint. One of the project's goals is to enable operation with minimal CPU and memory resource consumption (requiring only a few hundred kilobytes of RAM). Two backends are available for rendering \u2014 gl based on OpenGL ES 2.0 and qt, which uses Qt QStyle. <\/p>\n

The creation of interfaces is supported in programs written in Rust, C++, and JavaScript. The library's authors have developed a special markup language called .slint, which compiles into native code for the chosen platform. There is an option to try the language in an online editor or to check out examples by building them independently. The library code is written in C++ and Rust and is distributed under the GPLv3 license or a commercial license that allows usage in proprietary products without opening the code.
