The AV Linux MX-21 distribution is now available, featuring a selection of applications for creating and processing multimedia content. The distribution is based on the package base of the MX Linux project and additional custom-built packages (Polyphone, Shuriken, Simple Screen Recorder, etc.). It can function in Live mode and is available for the x86_64 architecture (3.4 GB). <\/p>\n
The user environment is based on Xfce4 with the OpenBox window manager instead of xfwm. It includes audio editors Ardour, ArdourVST, Harrison, Mixbus, 3D design software Blender, video editors Cinelerra, Openshot, LiVES, and tools for converting multimedia file formats. For sound device connectivity, the JACK Audio Connection Kit is offered (using JACK1\/Qjackctl, not JACK2\/Cadence). The distribution comes with a detailed illustrated manual (PDF, 74 pages).

The method of creating the distribution has changed; instead of repackaging ready-made packages from MX Linux (Respin), the distribution is built from source texts using the build tools applied for MX Linux and antiX.\n
The package base is synchronized with the package bases of MX Linux 21 and Debian 11 (Bullseye). The release numbering scheme has been changed; instead of the YYYY.MM.DD format, a version number corresponding to MX Linux is now used.\n
The use of external repositories (KXStudio) that differ from MX Linux repositories has been discontinued.\n
Assembly for 32-bit x86 systems has been discontinued.\n
The delivery of the Linux kernel variant with RT patches for increased system responsiveness has been stopped. The new AV Linux kernel is based on release 5.15 and comes with Liquorix patches aimed at enhancing performance when running multimedia applications.\n
Support for AHS (Advanced Hardware Support) has been added, a repository configuration variant of the MX Linux distribution offering the latest updates to the graphics stack subsystem and microcode for new processors. Packages with improved hardware support can be installed as they are released, using standard installation and update tools.\n
A new theme for Xfce and Openbox has been introduced, featuring a set of 4K desktop wallpapers. New Suru++ and Papirus icon themes have also been suggested.

A new modular interface, AV Linux Assistant, based on YAD has been proposed.\n
A splash screen has been added, which is displayed on the first launch.\n
Support for Yabridge has been added for loading VST plugins built for Windows. A separate graphical interface for working with Yabridge has been implemented.\n
New utilities have been added: BPM Converter and Gradient Wallpaper Generator.\n
The packages for AVL-MXE plugins and fonts have been expanded.\n
Support for packages in AppImage format has been added.\n
Instead of GDebi, a handler based on Thunar Custom Action has been implemented for package installation. <\/ul>\n
