The release of the Linux distribution Zorin OS 16.1 has been announced, based on the Ubuntu 20.04 package base. The target audience of the distribution is beginners, accustomed to working in Windows. To manage the appearance, the distribution offers a special configurator that allows the desktop to resemble various versions of Windows and macOS. It also includes a selection of applications similar to those that Windows users are familiar with. To integrate the desktop with smartphones, the Zorin Connect application (based on KDE Connect) is included. In addition to the default Ubuntu repositories, it supports installation from Flathub and Snap Store catalogs. The size of the bootable ISO image is 2.8 GB (four versions are available \u2014 the standard based on GNOME, the 'Lite' version with Xfce, and their variants for educational institutions). <\/p>\n

In the new version, updates have been made to package and user application versions, including the addition of LibreOffice 7.3. The kernel has been upgraded to Linux 5.13, supporting new hardware. The graphics stack (Mesa 21.2.6) and drivers for Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA chips have also been updated. Support for 12th generation Intel Core processors, the Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense game controller, and the Apple Magic Mouse 2 has been added. Wireless device and printer support has been improved.
