A stable version of the GNU Coreutils 9.1 basic system utilities is now available, which includes programs such as sort, cat, chmod, chown, chroot, cp, date, dd, echo, hostname, id, ln, ls, etc. <\/p>\n

The dd utility now supports alternative option names iseek=N for skip=N and oseek=N for seek=N, which are used in the dd variant for BSD systems.\n
The dircolors utility has added the option «—print-ls-colors» for a clear and separate display of colors defined in the LS_COLORS environment variable. Support for the COLORTERM environment variable has also been added in dircolors, in addition to TERM.\n
In the cp, mv, and install utilities, system calls openat* are utilized when copying to a directory to improve efficiency and eliminate potential race conditions.\n
In macOS, the cp utility now creates a clone of a file in copy-on-write mode if the source and destination files are located on the same APFS filesystem and the destination file is absent. It also preserves mode and access time during copying (as done with ‘cp -p’ and ‘cp -a’).\n
The ‘date’ utility has added the ‘—resolution’ option for displaying information about time accounting accuracy.\n
In printf, support has been added for outputting numeric values in multibyte characters.\n
In «sort —debug», diagnostics have been implemented for issues with characters in the «—field-separator» parameter that conflict with characters that may be used in numbers.\n
In the cat utility, the copy_file_range system call is utilized for copying data between two files on the kernel side without transferring data to process memory in user space, if supported by the system.\n
In chown and chroot, a warning is displayed when using the syntax «chown root.root f» instead of «chown root:root f» as there may be issues on systems where dots are allowed in usernames.\n
In the dd utility, counting bytes instead of blocks is ensured if the counter values end with the «B» symbol (‘dd count=100KiB’). The count_bytes, skip_bytes, and seek_bytes flags have been deprecated.\n
In ls, file highlighting based on capabilities is disabled by default, as it increases load by approximately 30%.\n
In ls and stat, attempts to automount files have been disabled. To perform automounting, the «stat —cached=never» option must be explicitly specified. <\/ul>\n
