Python remains the leader of the ranking, followed closely by C, C++, and C#. Compared to last year's ranking, Java dropped from 2nd to 5th place. The Rust language ranks 12th, while overall it holds the 20th position, and in employer interest ranking, it is at 22.    <center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Programming Language Rankings by IEEE Spectrum\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/3a71b0f248913e9d3df7419ac48a4ada.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/center>        <\/p>\n<p>The IEEE Spectrum ranking was calculated using a combination of 12 metrics sourced from 10 different sources. The method is based on assessing search results for the query \u2018{\u043d\u0430\u0437\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0438\u0435_\u044f\u0437\u044b\u043a\u0430} programming\u2019 across various sites. It considered the number of materials returned in Google search results (similar to how the TIOBE ranking is constructed), the popularity of search queries via Google Trends (like in the PYPL ranking), mentions on Twitter, the number of new and active repositories on GitHub, the number of questions on Stack Overflow, the number of publications on Reddit and Hacker News, job postings on CareerBuilder and the IEEE Job Site, and mentions in the digital archive of journal articles and conference papers (IEEE Xplore).          <\/p>\n<p>Other programming language popularity rankings:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> In the August TIOBE Software ranking, Python moved from 2nd to 1st place, while C and Java shifted to 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. Among the changes over the year, the rise in popularity of languages like Assembly (up from 9th to 8th), SQL (from 10th to 9th), Swift (from 16th to 11th), Go (from 18th to 15th), Object Pascal (from 22nd to 13th), and Objective-C (from 23rd to 14th) is noted. The popularity of PHP (from 8th to 10th), R (from 14th to 16th), Ruby (from 15th to 18th), and Fortran (from 13th to 19th) has declined. The Kotlin language has entered the Top 30 list. Rust has risen from 17th to 13th place, TypeScript from 10th to 8th, and Swift from 11th to 9th. Compared to August last year, the popularity of Go, Dart, Ada, Lua, and Julia has also increased.
