The release commemorates the 25th anniversary of the project. Over the years, the project has transformed from a conceptual port scanner published in 1997 in Phrack magazine into a fully functional application for analyzing network security and identifying the server applications in use. This release mainly includes fixes and improvements aimed at increasing stability and addressing known issues before work begins on the significantly different Nmap 8. <\/p>\n
