The Fedora Linux developers have disabled the use of VA-API (Video Acceleration API) in the Mesa package provided in the distribution for hardware acceleration of video encoding and decoding in H.264, H.265, and VC-1 formats. This change will be included in Fedora 37 and will affect configurations using open video drivers (AMDGPU, radeonsi, Nouveau, Intel, etc.).
