After 20 years of development, the release of Stellarium 1.0 has taken place, advancing a free planetarium for three-dimensional navigation of the starry sky. The basic catalog of celestial objects contains over 600,000 stars and 80,000 deep-sky objects (additional catalogs cover more than 177 million stars and over a million deep-sky objects), as well as information on constellations and nebulae. The project code is written in C++ using the Qt framework and is distributed under the GPLv2 license. Builds are provided for Linux, Windows, and macOS. <\/p>\n
The interface offers flexible scaling options, 3D visualization, and simulation of various objects. It supports projection onto the planetarium dome, creation of mirror projections, and integration with telescopes. Plugins can be used to enhance functionality and telescope control. There is an option to add custom celestial objects, simulate artificial satellites, and implement custom visualization forms.

In the new version, a transition to the Qt6 framework has been made, ensuring an acceptable level of accuracy in reproducing past states. A significantly improved sky lighting model has been proposed. Detail has been enhanced in the simulation of eclipses. The capabilities of the astronomical calculator have been expanded. Performance on high pixel density screens (HiDPI) has been improved. Anti-aliasing has been enhanced.
