The release of the Ubuntu Sway Remix 22.10 distribution is now available, providing a pre-configured, ready-to-use desktop based on the mosaic composite manager Sway. This distribution is an unofficial edition of Ubuntu 22.10, designed for both experienced GNU\/Linux users and newcomers wanting to try a tiling window manager environment without the hassle of lengthy setup. Builds are available for the amd64 architecture (2.1 GB).

The distribution environment is built on Sway \u2014 a compositor that uses the Wayland protocol and is fully compatible with the tiling window manager i3, as well as the Waybar panel, the PCManFM-GTK3 file manager, and utilities from the NWG-Shell project, such as the Azote wallpaper manager, the full-screen application menu nwg-drawer, the utility for displaying script content on the screen nwg-wrapper (used to show keyboard shortcut hints on the desktop), the GTK theme, cursor, and font manager nwg-look, and the Autotiling script, which automatically arranges the windows of open applications like dynamic tiling window managers. <\/p>\n

The distribution includes both graphical applications such as Firefox, Qutebrowser, Audacious, GIMP, Transmission, LibreOffice, Pluma, and MATE Calc, as well as console applications and utilities like the music player Musikcube, video player MPV, image viewer Swayimg, PDF document viewer Zathura, text editor Neovim, file manager Ranger, and others. <\/p>\n

Another feature of the distribution is the complete abandonment of the Snap package manager; all programs are provided as standard deb packages, including the Firefox web browser, for which the official PPA repository from the Mozilla Team is used.
