The release of Proxmox Virtual Environment 7.3 has been published, a specialized Linux distribution based on Debian GNU\/Linux, aimed at the deployment and management of virtual servers utilizing LXC and KVM, capable of serving as an alternative to products such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix Hypervisor. The size of the installation ISO image is 1.1 GB. <\/p>\n
Proxmox VE provides tools for deploying a fully functional industrial-grade virtual server system, managed through a web interface designed for handling hundreds or even thousands of virtual machines. The distribution includes built-in tools for organizing backups of virtual environments and offers out-of-the-box clustering support, including the ability to migrate virtual environments from one node to another without downtime. Features of the web interface include: support for secure VNC console; role-based access management to all available objects (VM, storage, nodes, etc.); and support for various authentication mechanisms (MS ADS, LDAP, Linux PAM, Proxmox VE authentication). <\/p>\n

The synchronization with the Debian 11.5 package base has been completed. By default, Linux kernel 5.15.74 is suggested, with version 5.19 available optionally. Updated versions include QEMU 7.1, LXC 5.0.0, ZFS 2.1.6, Ceph 17.2.5 (\"Quincy\") and Ceph 16.2.10 (\"Pacific\").\n
Initial support for the Cluster Resource Scheduling (CRS) scheduler has been added, which searches for new nodes necessary to ensure high availability and uses the TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method to select the most optimal candidates considering memory and vCPU requirements.\n
The proxmox-offline-mirror utility has been implemented to create local mirrors of Proxmox and Debian package repositories that can be used to update systems within an internal network without internet access or completely isolated systems (by placing the mirror on a USB drive).\n
ZFS now supports dRAID (Distributed Spare RAID) technology.\n
The web interface now allows tagging of guest systems for easier searching and grouping. The interface for viewing certificates has been improved. It is now possible to add a single local storage (zpool with one name) to multiple nodes. The api-viewer has enhanced the display of complex formats.\n
The binding of CPU cores to virtual machines has been simplified.\n
New container templates have been added for AlmaLinux 9, Alpine 3.16, CentOS 9 Stream, Fedora 36, Fedora 37, OpenSUSE 15.4, Rocky Linux 9, and Ubuntu 22.10. Templates for Gentoo and ArchLinux have been updated.\n
Hot-plugging USB devices to virtual machines has been enabled. Support for passing through up to 14 USB devices to the virtual machine has been added.
