VKD3D-Proton includes Proton-specific modifications, optimizations, and improvements for better performance of Windows games based on Direct3D 12 that have not yet been incorporated into the main vkd3d codebase. It is also noted for its focus on utilizing modern Vulkan extensions and the capabilities of the latest graphics driver releases to achieve full compatibility with Direct3D 12.      <\/p>\n<p>In the new version:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for the Vulkan extension VK_EXT_descriptor_buffer has been added, which significantly reduces CPU load.\n<li class=\"l\"> The implementation of virtual framebuffers (SwapChain) has been rewritten. The changes allow for more precise control over delays and frames using the VK_KHR_present_wait extension and reduce CPU load in the main thread.\n<li class=\"l\"> Issues have been resolved in the games Hitman III, Witcher 3, Spiderman Remastered: Miles Morales, Borderlands 3, Age of Empires IV, and Resident Evil Village.    <\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, it is worth noting the update of the GE-Proton7 project, where enthusiasts develop independent builds of the Proton package for running Windows applications, which are not dependent on Valve. These builds feature a newer version of Wine, the utilization of FFmpeg in FAudio, and the inclusion of additional patches that resolve issues in various gaming applications. In Proton GE 43, a transition to a more recent Wine codebase, as well as updates for dxvk, proton, protonfix, and vkd3d (from Git), has been made, alongside fixes for issues experienced in games such
