The release of EndeavourOS 22.12 is now available, succeeding the Antergos distribution, which was discontinued in May 2019 due to the remaining maintainers' lack of free time to support the project adequately. The installation image size is 1.9 GB (x86_64, with a separate build for ARM). <\/p>\n
Endeavour OS allows the user to install Arch Linux with the necessary desktop environment simply and without complications, in the way it is intended in its standard setup provided by the developers of the chosen desktop, without additional pre-installed programs. The distribution offers a straightforward installer for setting up the basic Arch Linux environment with Xfce desktop by default and the option to install one of the typical desktop environments based on Mate, LXQt, Cinnamon, KDE Plasma, GNOME, Budgie, as well as tiling window managers i3, BSPWM, and Sway from the repository. There is ongoing work to add support for the Qtile and Openbox window managers, as well as the UKUI, LXDE, and Deepin desktop environments. One of the project's developers is working on a custom window manager called Worm. <\/p>\n

Updated package versions include the proposed Linux kernel 6.0.12, Firefox 108.0.1, Mesa 22.3.1, Xorg-Server 21.1.5, nvidia-dkms 525.60.11, and Grub 2:2.06.r403.g7259d55ff. The Calamares installer has been updated to release 3.3.0-alpha3.\n
A choice of installed bootloaders (systemd-boot or GRUB) has been provided, along with the option to install the system without a bootloader (using another already installed bootloader).\n
Dracut is used for creating initramfs images instead of mkinitcpio. Among the advantages of Dracut is its ability to automatically detect the necessary modules and work without separate configuration.\n
Added an entry to the grub and systemd-boot boot menu for loading Windows if this OS is installed alongside.\n
The ability to create a new disk partition for EFI has been added, instead of using one already created in another OS.\n
Support for submenu in the GRUB bootloader is enabled by default.\n
In Cinnamon, the Qogir icon set is used instead of adwaita icons.\n
In GNOME, Gnome-text-editor and Console applications are used instead of gedit and gnome-terminal.\n
In Budgie, the Qogir icon set and arc GTK theme have been implemented, and Nemo has replaced Nautilus as the file manager.\n
The ARM architecture build has added support for the Pinebook Pro laptop. A package with the linux-eos-arm kernel, including the amdgpu kernel module, is offered, which may be required for devices like Phytium D2000. Boot images compatible with Raspberry Pi Imager and dd utilities have been added. The script for ensuring compatibility with headless server systems has been improved. For Odroid N2+ boards, vulkan-panfrost and vulkan-mesa-layers packages have been added. <\/ul>\n
