A release of the specialized distribution Tails 5.8 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been created, based on the Debian package base and designed for anonymous internet access. Anonymous access in Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except for traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by the packet filter by default. To store user data in persistence mode between sessions, encryption is used. An ISO image has been prepared that can run in Live mode, with a size of 1.2 GB. <\/p>\n

The user environment has transitioned from the X server to the Wayland protocol, enhancing the security of all graphical applications by improving control over how applications interact with the system. For instance, unlike X11, in Wayland input and output are isolated for each window, and the client cannot access the content of other clients' windows or intercept input events related to other windows. The switch to Wayland also allowed the Unsafe Browser, designed for accessing local network resources, to be enabled by default (previously, the Unsafe Browser was disabled by default as the compromise of another application could lead to the launch of an invisible Unsafe Browser window to transmit IP address information). The use of Wayland also enabled features such as sound, downloads, and alternative input methods.\n
A new interface for configuring Persistent Storage, used for the permanent storage of user data between sessions (e.g., files, Wi-Fi passwords, browser bookmarks, etc.), has been proposed. Support for obtaining information about new Tor bridge nodes via QR code scanning has been added. The QR code can be obtained from the website bridges.torproject.org or sent in response to an email sent to bridges@torproject.org from a Gmail or Riseup account.\n
Issues related to user experience in the Tor Connection application have been resolved. For instance, percentage display has been added to indicate the progress of operations, along with a Bridge label before the input line for the bridge node address.
