Microsoft has announced the implementation of hardware acceleration support for video encoding and decoding in WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), a layer for running Linux applications on Windows. This implementation enables the use of hardware acceleration for processing, encoding, and decoding video in any applications that support VAAPI.
