As an emulator, QEMU allows running a program compiled for one hardware platform on a system with a completely different architecture, for example, executing an application for ARM on an x86-compatible PC. In virtualization mode, the performance of code execution in an isolated environment is close to that of the hardware system due to the direct execution of instructions on the CPU and the involvement of the Xen hypervisor or KVM module.       <\/p>\n<p>Initially, the project was created by Fabrice Bellard to enable the execution of binaries compiled for the x86 platform on architectures other than x86. Over the years of development, full emulation support has been added for 14 hardware architectures, and the number of emulated hardware devices has exceeded 400. For the 8.0 release, more than 2800 changes have been made by 238 developers.     <\/p>\n<p>Key improvements added in QEMU 8.0:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for system emulation (running the entire OS, including with hypervisors like Xen) on 32-bit x86 hosts is deprecated and will soon be discontinued. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/en\/vps\/abuzoustojchivye-vps\/\"   title=\"KVM\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4421\">KVM<\/a> Support for user-mode emulation (running individual processes compiled for another CPU) on 32-bit x86 hosts will continue.\n<li class=\"l\"> The x86 architecture emulator has added support for running Xen guest systems in an environment based on the KVM hypervisor and Linux kernels 5.12+.\n<li class=\"l\"> The classic TCG code generator for x86 architecture has added support for CPUID flags FSRM, FZRM, FSRS, and FSRC. Support for the new Intel Sapphire Rapids CPU model (Intel 7) has been implemented.\n<li class=\"l\"> The ARM emulator has implemented support for the Cortex-A55 and Cortex-R52 CPUs, added a new type of emulated machine Olimex STM32 H405, and introduced support for CPU extensions FEAT_EVT (Enhanced Virtualization Traps), FEAT_FGT (Fine-Grained Traps), and AArch32 ARMv8-R. Support for system registers for the M-profile architecture (microcontroller profile) has been added in gdbstub.\n<li class=\"l\"> The RISC-V architecture emulator has updated implementations for emulated machines OpenTitan, PolarFire, and OpenSBI. Support for additional instruction set architectures (ISA) and extensions has been added: Smstateen, debug counters icount related to PMU cache events in virtual mode, ACPI, and extensions Zawrs, Svadu, T-Head, and Zicond.\n<li class=\"l\"> The HPPA architecture emulator has added support for the fid (Floating-Point Identify) instruction and improved emulation in 32-bit mode.\n<li class=\"l\"> The 390x architecture emulator now supports asynchronous memory detachment during the reboot of protected KVM guest systems. Improved handling of passed-through zPCI devices.\n<li class=\"l\"> The virtio-mem mechanism, allowing for hotplugging and unplugging of memory to virtual machines, has implemented resource preallocation during live migration.\n<li class=\"l\"> In VFIO (Virtual Function I\/O), experimental support for migration has been updated (utilizing the second edition of the migration protocol).\n<li class=\"l\"> In the qemu-nbd block device, the efficiency of operation over TCP has been enhanced with TLS support.\n<li class=\"l\"> Initial support for OpenBSD and NetBSD has been
