Valve has released an update for the Proton 8.0-4 project, based on the Wine codebase and aimed at ensuring the launch of gaming applications created for Windows on Linux, which are available in the Steam catalog. The project developments are distributed under the BSD license. <\/p>\n
Proton allows you to launch gaming applications in the Steam Linux client that are only available for Windows. The package includes an implementation of DirectX 9\/10\/11 (based on the DXVK package) and DirectX 12 (based on vkd3d-proton), which operate by translating DirectX calls to the Vulkan API, providing improved support for game controllers and the ability to use fullscreen mode regardless of the resolutions supported in games. For enhanced performance in multithreaded games, it supports mechanisms like \u2018esync\u2019 (Eventfd Synchronization) and \u2018futex\/fsync\u2019. The DXVK layer, which translates calls to the Vulkan API, has been updated to version 2.3-5-g83dc4678. VKD3D-Proton, a fork of vkd3d created by Valve to enhance Direct3D 12 support in Proton, has been updated to version 2.10. The shader compiler has been synchronized with the latest vkd3d codebase. The dxvk-nvapi package has been updated to version 0.6.4. Wine has been updated to version 8.0.1.\n
