Artist David Revue complained on his blog that after updating the Linux kernel to version 6.5.8 in Fedora Linux, the right button on his tablet stylus began to behave like an eraser. The model he uses has a pressure-sensitive eraser on the back, and the right button on the stylus had been configured in Krita for many years to call up the menu, transformation settings, or show the palette, depending on the active mode. The change in button behavior to a rigidly defined action that cannot be overridden completely alters the workflow and requires changing a long-established habit. Comments suggested that the similar effect was caused by a change that added support for devices sending erase events with inversion, such as the XP-Pen Artist 24 graphics tablet. It seems that forced processing of the button press on the stylus to activate the eraser was added quite some time ago but did not work on the XPPen 24 Artist Pro tablet due to a bug that has been fixed in the new kernel.
