After ten months of development, the multimedia package FFmpeg 6.1 is now available, including a set of applications and a collection of libraries for operations on various multimedia formats (recording, conversion, and decoding of audio and video formats). The package is distributed under LGPL and GPL licenses, with FFmpeg development conducted alongside the MPlayer project. <\/p>\n
Notable changes introduced in FFmpeg 6.1 include: <\/p>\n

The ability to utilize the Vulkan API for hardware-accelerated video decoding in H264, HEVC, and AV1 formats has been implemented.\n
An AV1 video encoder has been added, based on VAAPI.\n
Support for using HEVC, VP9, and AV1 codecs in RTMP-based streams and FLV format files has been added.\n
A parser, encoder, and decoder for media containers in the EVC (Essential Video Coding) format have been added, developed by the MPEG working group as part of the MPEG-5 standard.\n
VAAPI support has been expanded on Windows systems with the libva-win32 library.\n
The option to use P_SKIP parameters for accelerated video encoding with the libx264 library has been implemented.\n
An encoder for video in the Microsoft RLE format has been added.\n
New decoders for Playdate, RivaTuner, vMix, and OSQ have been added.\n
Based on the libaribcaption library, a decoder for ARIB STD-B24 subtitles has been implemented.\n
Demuxers for media containers have been added: Raw VVC (Versatile Video Coding, the new H.266\/MPEG-I Part 3 standard), Playdate, Raw AC-4, OSQ, CRI USM.\n
Muxers for media containers have been added: Raw AC-4 and Raw VVC.\n

color_vulkan \u2014 creates a frame of a specified color through calls to the Vulkan API.\n
bwdif_vulkan \u2014 performs deinterlacing using the BWDIF (Bob Weaver Deinterlacing Filter) algorithm, implemented via the Vulkan API.\n
bwdif_cuda \u2014 deinterlacing using the BWDIF algorithm, implemented based on the CUDA API.\n
nlmeans_vulkan \u2014 noise reduction using the Non-local means algorithm, implemented via the Vulkan API.\n
xfade_vulkan \u2014 implementation of a fade effect using the Vulkan API.\n
zoneplate \u2014 generates a test video pattern based on a Fresnel zone plate.\n
scale_vt and transpose_vt scaling and transformation filters, implemented using the VideoToolBox API (macOS).\n
Support for commands has been added to the setpts and asetpts filters. <\/ul>\n

arls \u2014 applies a recursive least squares method to approximate the parameters of one audio stream to another.\n
afireqsrc \u2014 generates a FIR equalizer (finite impulse response filter).\n
apsnr \u2014 measures signal-to-noise ratio.\n
asisdr \u2014 measures the signal-to-distortion ratio. <\/ul>\n

The ffmpeg utility has been updated with the '-readrate_initial_burst' option to set the initial read buffering time, after which the '-readrate' limit will take effect. The '-top' option is deprecated and should be replaced with the setfield filter.\n
The ffprobe utility has added the '-output_format' option, which is similar to the '-of' option and can be used to specify the output format (for example, json format can be used). The XML output schema has been modified to support multiple elements linked to a single parent element. <\/ul>\n
