The Nobara 39 distribution release has been introduced, based on the Fedora Linux 39 package base and including additional fixes that address known issues encountered when running computer games, streaming, and performing content creation tasks. Six installation images have been prepared for download: an official one with KDE (3.6 GB), additional ones with GNOME (3.5 GB) and KDE (3.5 GB), as well as variants of these images with proprietary NVIDIA drivers. The official image includes its own theme, while the additional images offer the original GNOME and KDE layouts. <\/p>\n

The distribution comes with proprietary components typically used on workstations, such as multimedia codecs and drivers, as well as packages not available in the standard Fedora repository, like OBS Studio, Steam, Lutris, and additional dependencies for Wine. The project's goal is to provide an immediately functional user environment that requires no further actions post-installation and resolves the main issues faced by Fedora users. <\/p>\n

Among the extended fixes provided by the distribution are patches for the Linux kernel to reduce gaming latency (Zenify), solutions for OpenRGB issues, use of the amdgpu driver for older GPUs, support for the Steam Deck console and Microsoft Surface devices, improved compatibility with ASUS laptops, resolution of simpledrm incompatibility with NVIDIA drivers, support for Lenovo Legion laptops, inclusion of ashmem and binder for Waydroid, and resolution of issues using Wayland with the nouveau driver. SELinux has been replaced with AppArmor. <\/p>\n

It includes the latest Mesa and Wine releases, compiled from project repositories. Patches have been added for Glibc, Flatpak, SDL2, Mutter, and xwayland. The package for Blender includes support for FFmpeg and HIP ray tracing libraries. Additional dependencies for Davinci Resolve have been installed. A wide range of patches for OBS Studio has been included, addressing screen capture issues in games using OpenGL and Vulkan, as well as patches for hardware encoding of H.264 and H.265\/HEVC on AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel systems. The RPMFusion repository is enabled by default. OnlyOffice is provided as the office suite. <\/p>\n

In the new version, KDE has been implemented instead of GNOME in the main build. Improved session performance based on the composite Gamescope. server<\/a> The performance of the Steam client and the OBS Studio package has been enhanced.
