The repository of the open project OpenXRay, which recreates the game engine for the earlier parts of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, has been blocked on GitHub. The project was founded after the source codes of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. engine were leaked and aims to fix all original flaws and introduce new features, such as support for 64-bit platforms, Linux, and OpenGL.<\/p>\n
The licensed status of the OpenXRay development has always been in question, but by now, a sort of status quo has established itself, where GSC was aware of the project but did not hinder its development (using OpenXRay requires game resources from S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which can be obtained by purchasing the original game).<\/p>\n
A message appeared on GSC's official Twitter stating that the block was not initiated by GSC and that the requirement sent is false. GSC supports the OpenXRay project and allows its use for mods. Company representatives promise to investigate the situation, noting that this is not the first attempt to block third-party resources by unrelated parties. So far, the repositories remain blocked.<\/p>\n
