Alan Somers, a developer of a new implementation of the FUSE driver for FreeBSD and the author of Rust bindings for some FreeBSD libraries, initiated a discussion on the process of integrating Rust code into the base system. During the discussion among the project's committers, the costs and benefits of the implementation were outlined. The cost of adding Rust support will result in a doubling of compilation time, while the benefit will be the simplification of development for certain utilities. <\/p>\n
