After more than a year of development, the release of the PortableGL 0.98 project has been prepared, advancing the software implementation of the OpenGL 3.x graphics API, entirely written in the C language (C99). Theoretically, PortableGL can be used in any applications that accept a texture or framebuffer as input. The code is presented as a single header file and is distributed under the MIT license. <\/p>\n

The project has defined goals such as portability, compliance with the OpenGL API, ease of use, simple code, and high performance. Areas of application include teaching concepts for building graphics APIs, working with 3D graphics on systems without a GPU, and integrating OpenGL support into specific operating systems for which the Mesa3D package has not been ported. Among completed projects using PortableGL is the port of the Minecraft-like game Craft. <\/p>\n
