He named his operating system <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.sr.ht\/~sircmpwn\/bunnix\">Bunnix<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The system is a monolithic Unix-like operating system written in <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/harelang.org\/\">Hare<\/a> with some small inclusions of C language.<\/p>\n<p><\/noindex><\/p>\n<p>In user space, the following tools have been built:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>    dash (\/bin\/sh)<\/li>\n<li>    gzip<\/li>\n<li>    less (pager)<\/li>\n<li>    lok (\/bin\/awk)<\/li>\n<li>    lolcat<\/li>\n<li>    mandoc (man pages)<\/li>\n<li>    sbase (core utils)1<\/li>\n<li>    tcc (C compiler)<\/li>\n<li>    Vim 5.7<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, to demonstrate the system's capabilities, the games Doom and Colossal Cave Adventure were compiled.<\/p>\n<p>The system can be booted using QEmu or written to a USB drive. Working with the USB itself is not supported, so real hardware must use a PS2\/keyboard. The kernel supports drivers for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>    PCI,<\/li>\n<li>    AHCI devices,<\/li>\n<li>    GPT and MBR partition tables,<\/li>\n<li>    PS\/2 keyboard,<\/li>\n<li>    platform serial ports,<\/li>\n<li>    CMOS clocks,<\/li>\n<li>    framebuffer,<\/li>\n<li>    ext4 and memfs file systems (via lwext4).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Kernel functions include: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> virtual file system,<\/li>\n<li> \/dev, \/dev\/kbd \u0438 \/dev\/fb0,<\/li>\n<li> serial and VideoTTY,<\/li>\n<li> controlling terminal \/dev\/tty,<\/li>\n<li> terminal emulator,<\/li>\n<li> termios,<\/li>\n<li> about 40 system calls (clock_gettime, poll, openat, fork, exec, pipe, dup, dup2, ioctl, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The author created this project out of personal interest and does not plan to further develop it. He was curious about how simply a kernel could be written and how to port third-party software using modern tools. As the developer states, third-party software was relatively easy to port because his libc was based on musl libc, thus the mechanisms of libc were easily adapted to work on
