After two years of development, the first release of the Conversations Classic project (2.2) has been published, which is a fork of the XMPP client Conversations for the Android platform. The program supports features such as end-to-end encryption, image and file transfers, audio and video calls, voice messages, conferencing, read receipts, synchronization with desktop systems, integration with the address book, and linking multiple accounts. The project's code is written in Java and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. <\/p>\n
The fork was created due to a radical change in the interface of the original Conversations application, which has transitioned to the use of the design concept 'Material 2.0', as well as the author's peculiar reaction to bug reports and pull requests. One of the project's goals is to create convenient and modern free Jabber clients for all platforms (Linux\/BSD, Android, iOS, MacOS, Windows) with support for all Jabber features, including end-to-end encryption, synchronization between trusted devices, encrypted voice and video calls, and file sharing. <\/p>\n
Changes in Conversations Classic 2.2 include: <\/p>\n

DTMF (Dual-tone multi-frequency signaling) during calls, which can be useful for making calls to public switched telephone networks.\n
Initial implementation of message reactions (XEP-0444).\n
A built-in image editor has been added, used when sending pictures and photos.\n
Implemented the ability to select multiple messages for copying or forwarding. When copying multiple messages, author and date information is provided.\n
A 'Saved Messages' (chat with yourself) option has been added to the context menu.\n
A 'swipe' gesture for replies has been added.\n
Contact and chat grouping by tags has been implemented.\n
Support for the 'Save to Downloads' action for attachments has been added.\n
Support for multi-selection of messages on the 'Share with' screen has been added.\n
An action menu for the selected contact is shown upon long-pressing the chat.\n
A feature for selecting the main accent color has been added.\n
A setting for automatically downloading all files when connected to Wi-Fi has been added.\n
Support for 'XEP-0061' (Message Replies) has been added, allowing navigation to the replied message.\n
Improved processing of saved messages.\n
Enhanced display of messages in chat (monolithic list usage has been discontinued).\n
Improved behavior of the scroll-to-bottom button in the dialogue.\n
Enhanced responses to messages with files or images.\n
Improved message search: you can now navigate to a specific point in the dialogue for the desired message.\n
Improved notification handling and customization settings for notification limits for each contact.\n
Improved sound notification settings.\n
Voice call functionality has been fine-tuned to support all existing clients that support voice and video calls with DTLS-SRTP.\n
Reduced memory and battery consumption during prolonged use with a large number of open chats.\n
New app launch icons and a new user interface category have been added in expert settings. Color scheme changed.\n
OMEMO mandatory encryption is turned off by default.\n
Buttons for copying JID contacts and restoring backups have been added.\n
