Developers from Red Hat have started to form CentOS Stream 10 builds and created a repository with packages signed by a digital signature. The presented branch is used for developing the upcoming significant release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. CentOS Stream allows early access to features of the future RHEL branch, but includes packages that are not yet fully stabilized. CentOS Stream 10 builds are created for x86_64, Aarch64, ppc64le, and s390x architectures in the form of installation ISO files and images for isolated containers. <\/p>\n

According to the new policy from Red Hat, the CentOS Stream repository is the only publicly available source of package source texts for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. CentOS Stream can be viewed as an upstream project for RHEL, serving as its development basis. With CentOS Stream, external participants from the community can take part in the development of a new RHEL branch, monitor the preparation of packages for RHEL, propose their changes, and influence decision-making. <\/p>\n

Before CentOS Stream was created as the foundation for a new branch of RHEL, a snapshot of one of the Fedora releases was used, which was refined and stabilized behind closed doors, without the opportunity to oversee the development process and decisions made. The new development process involves moving the previously closed stage of RHEL preparation to CentOS Stream \u2014 based on the Fedora snapshot, a new branch of CentOS Stream is formed with community involvement, after which RHEL will be rebuilt based on CentOS Stream.
