Ultimately, after lengthy discussions over the past few days, the behavior of systemd-tmpfiles was recognized as erroneous and modified. Initially, to prevent accidental deletion of home directories, the developers of systemd intended to remove the «—purge» option, but then they made a change that limits the scope of the «systemd-tmpfiles —purge» command \u2014 this command can now only be executed when a specific configuration file from tmpfiles.d\/ is explicitly specified in the command line and will result in the deletion of only the associated files and directories.
