As part of the Verso project, a new web browser is being developed based on the Servo engine. The code for Verso, like Servo, is written in Rust and is distributed under the MIT and Apache 2.0 licenses. The browser is still in the early stages of development and, in addition to the web content processing capabilities provided by the Servo engine, implements a simple user interface. Testable builds are published for Linux (flatpak), Windows, and macOS. <\/p>\n
Rendering in Verso is done using its own composite manager, which utilizes OpenGL and interacts with Servo through messaging tools provided by the Constellation framework. Currently, efforts are concentrated on implementing support for a multi-window interface that uses different rendering contexts within a single instance of the Servo engine. Future development plans include support for multi-process mode, sandbox isolation for all platforms, and utilizing the features of the multimedia framework Gstreamer.

The Servo project was initially developed by Mozilla but later came under the umbrella of the Linux Foundation. The engine is distinguished by its support for multithreaded rendering of web pages, parallelization of DOM (Document Object Model) operations, and the use of Rust's safe programming mechanisms. Servo was originally created with support for breaking down DOM code and rendering into smaller subtasks that can be executed in parallel, allowing for more efficient use of multicore CPU resources. Some parts of Servo, such as the multithreaded CSS engine and the WebRender rendering system, have already been integrated into Firefox. <\/p>\n
Among the projects related to Servo, the collaboration between Servo developers and the Redox operating system, which is being developed in Rust and uses a microkernel concept, is noteworthy.
