The release of the Deepin 23 distribution has been published, which develops its own Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE), as well as about 40 user applications, including the music player DMusic, the video player DMovie, the messaging system DTalk, the installer, and the Deepin Software Center. The project is based by a group of developers from China, but has transformed into an international project and supports the Russian language. The distribution repository includes more than 8000 packages. All developments are distributed under the GPLv3 license. The size of the bootable ISO image is 3.3-5 GB (amd64, arm64, and loongarch64, with preparation underway for RISC-V builds). <\/p>\n
Desktop components and applications are developed using C\/C++ and Go languages. The graphical interface is built using the Qt library. A key feature of the Deepin desktop is the panel that supports multiple work modes. In classic mode, there is a more explicit separation of open windows and applications available for launch, with a system tray area displayed. The efficient mode somewhat resembles Unity, blending indicators of running programs, favorite applications, and control applets (volume\/brightness settings, connected drives, clock, network status, etc.). The program launch interface offers two modes - viewing favorite applications and navigating the catalog of installed programs.

The contents of the package repository have been updated. Support has been added for ARM64, RISC-V, and LoongArch64 architectures.\n
A transition has been made to a new installation and upgrade mechanism that uses atomic replacement of system images and ensures the preservation of previous states through snapshots. Unlike the typical scheme with two interchangeable system partitions (A\/B scheme), the snapshot-based implementation allows saving disk space while maintaining the ability to roll back to a previous state in case of issues after an update installation, and also allows the user to switch between multiple versions of the system.\n
A custom package management toolkit and the Linyaps package format have been proposed, supporting the installation of applications in both online and offline modes, and running applications in separate containers. The containers allow isolating applications from the system and eliminate conflicts between system dependencies and application dependencies. Common components are presented as runtimes, including libraries and dependencies typically used in graphical applications (for instance, runtimes for applications using Qt). Proprietary applications that come pre-installed have been migrated to the new format, and a separate application catalog (Application Store) has been launched for distributing packages in the Linyaps format.\n
The Deepin Desktop Environment features an updated taskbar and application launcher interface, along with new customization options for themes. User interaction tools have been significantly improved, while the environment remains familiar, allowing existing users to quickly adapt to the changes.\n
The application launcher interface has added support for sorting applications by name and provides the option for arbitrary grouping, where the contents of groups and the order of applications in lists can be determined manually. Sections for frequently used and recently launched applications have been added. The sorting logic has been unified in both windowed and fullscreen modes for navigating available applications.\n
The taskbar has been moved to the bottom of the screen, freeing up additional screen space. The built-in interface in the taskbar for managing virtual desktops and switching between them has been modified. Support for modules has been added for quick access to various operations. A module for screen content broadcasting to other devices via Wi-Fi using the Miracast protocol has been introduced, as well as a module for creating screenshots and recording screencasts. The system tray and application area in the taskbar have been redesigned using QML. The ability to collapse the system tray has been added.\n
The settings interface (Control Center) has been redesigned.\n
A tool for file sharing between different devices and systems has been added, along with support for shared clipboard access and remote cursor control. Interaction between two systems running Deepin or between systems running Deepin and Windows is supported.\n
A Cloud Sync system has been added, allowing synchronization of system settings, calendar-scheduler contents, and browser bookmarks between different computers running Deepin.\n
The built-in client for the UOS AI service provides access to a large language model capable of answering questions in natural language. A Play Assistant module has been added to address questions related to the operation of the operating system, as well as a Personal Knowledge Assistant that generates content and answers questions based on the contents of files uploaded by the user. Users can also upload their own large language models. Support has been added for launching pre-installed programs, changing settings, and searching using voice and text commands in natural language. In the UOS AI email client, it is utilized for summarizing, translating, and assisting in writing emails, while in the image viewer, it is used for tasks such as cropping, background blurring, and style modification. <\/ul>\n
