The Microsoft-owned social network LinkedIn reported the migration of most of its servers, virtual machines, and containers from CentOS to the Azure Linux distribution. In addition to addressing the issue of discontinued support for the CentOS 7 branch during the migration process, it also achieved enhanced security for the infrastructure, reduced costs, increased flexibility in configuration, and simplified the implementation of new features based on machine learning components. <\/p>\n

Notable solutions adopted during the migration process include the use of the XFS file system and software RAID, which have demonstrated optimal performance for most of the applications utilized by LinkedIn. Additionally, servers<\/a> Azure Linux is also deployed in virtual machines with a developer environment equipped with a graphical interface (Developer Desktop VM), accessible for remote connections via RDP or SSH. While Azure Linux is not originally designed to provide a desktop environment, it is established at LinkedIn that the same operating system is used in developer environments as in work servers<\/a>.
