On September 27, the Document Foundation announced Document Foundation<\/a> that the second corrective update of LibreOffice 24.8 includes fixes for over eighty bugs, crashes, and regressions.<\/p>\n

LibreOffice<\/a> – a free office suite that continues the development of OpenOffice.org, including the word processor Writer, the spreadsheet Calc, the presentation editor Impress, and the database management system Base. Compared to OOo, it has improved support for Microsoft Office formats, many enhancements have been introduced, and ongoing updates are published. LibreOffice offers a flexible user interface with extensive customization options. For example, it supports both traditional nested menus such as File \/ Edit \/ View \/ … and the modern 'ribbon' UI style of Microsoft Office. LibreOffice is a cross-platform solution, supporting GNU\/Linux and other Unix-like systems, as well as Android, Haiku, and Windows (notably, despite reaching EOL, support continues for Windows 7 SP1).<\/p>\n

The community version of the suite is available for all to use; free support is provided via ask.libreoffice.org<\/a>. Support is also available as part of the enterprise version<\/a> for businesses.<\/p>\n

Key changes common to the 24.8 branch include: disabling export to personal data files to preserve user privacy; ODF encryption mode using a password; user interface improvements; enhanced support for floating tables over multiple pages, and and much more<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 24.8 branch will be supported until June 12, 2025. The next minor release is scheduled for November this year.<\/p>\n
