The Manjaro Linux team has begun testing the MDD (Manjaro Data Donor) service to collect user data and send it to the project's external server.<\/p>\n

Initially, it was planned that this feature would be enabled by default, but this decision faced opposition from other maintainers of the project. Currently, telemetry will be available as an option requiring user consent upon the first launch of the OS. <\/p>\n

Telemetry will collect the host name, kernel version, versions of desktop components, detailed information about hardware and used drivers, information about screen size and resolution, MAC addresses of network devices, disk serial numbers, data on disk partitions, information on the number of running processes and installed packages, versions of core packages such as systemd, gcc, bash, and PipeWire.<\/p>\n

The MDD solution is written in Python and invokes the inxi utility with the parameters \"-Fxxx\" to obtain a full report containing system information. For customer security an IP address<\/a> user statistics are not saved, and a hash of the contents of the file \/etc\/machine-id is used as the identifier for each system.<\/p>\n
