Quietly and unnoticeably, VMware surprised everyone. The full version of VMware Workstation Pro (Windows, Linux) and Fusion Pro (macOS) is now completely free! No trials, no feature limitations, no microtransactions. Previously, the software was only free for personal use. Businesses, educational institutions, freelancers, and developers planning to use the software for commercial purposes had to pay for a license. But that is now in the past.<\/p>\n

As a result, VMware Workstation Pro and Fusion Pro are no longer available for purchase. Customers with commercial licenses will not receive refunds but will continue to receive support through the ticketing system, which users without licenses will not have access to.<\/p>\n

VMware plans to continue developing these products. A significant portion of VMware's revenue comes from selling virtualization technologies aimed at businesses, enterprises, and cloud services\u2014large-scale IT infrastructure\u2014and from ongoing technical support contracts associated with it.<\/p>\n
