The release of the Lutris gaming platform 0.5.18 has been announced, providing tools to simplify the installation, configuration, and management of games on Linux. The project's code is written in Python and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. Ready builds are available in flatpak format. <\/p>\n
The project supports a catalog for quick searching and installation of gaming applications, allowing users to launch games on Linux with a single click through a unified interface, without worrying about dependency installations and settings. The runtime components required for game execution are provided by the project and are not tied to the distribution used. The runtime is a distribution-independent set of libraries, including components from SteamOS and Ubuntu, as well as various additional libraries. <\/p>\n
It allows for the installation of games distributed through services like GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, Amazon Games, Origin, and Uplay. Lutris itself acts only as an intermediary and does not sell games, so for commercial titles, users must purchase the game from the respective service (free games can be launched with one click from the Lutris graphical interface). <\/p>\n
Each game in Lutris is associated with a loading script and handler describing the environment for launching the game. Ready-made profiles with optimal settings for running games under Wine are also provided. In addition to Wine, games can be launched using console emulators such as RetroArch, Dosbox, FS-UAE, ScummVM, MESS\/MAME, and Dolphin. <\/p>\n

Display of narrow images with game covers instead of separately prepared wide banners is enabled by default.

The sidebar now includes a view mode that does not separate into categories ('Uncategorized').\n
The ability to use refined tags in searches has been provided, such as 'installed:yes' and 'source:gog'. A separate button for filtering output using these tags has been added to the search area.\n
Integration with Itch.io, Flathub, and Amazon services has been improved. For GOG and Itch.io services, the option to choose which installer to download when both Windows and Linux installers are available for a single game has been implemented.\n
If any version of Wine is available on the system, the latest build of the GE-Proton package will be downloaded.\n
In the configurator on systems with Wayland, options that do not work in such environments are hidden.\n
Support for the foot terminal emulator has been added.\n
Support for DirectX 8 API, which appeared in DXVK v2.4, has been added.\n
Support for displaying in the Ayatana indicators panel has been added.\n
In the configurator, under the 'System' tab, the ability to view the Lutris work log has been added.\n
An AppArmor profile has been added for Ubuntu releases starting from 23.10.\n
A runner has been added to launch games using Duckstation (PlayStation 1 emulator). Links for downloading game launch components (runners) using Atari800 and MicroM8 emulators have been updated. <\/ul>\n
