The release of the SeaMonkey 2.53.20 internet application suite has been published, combining a web browser, email client, RSS\/Atom feed aggregating system, and WYSIWYG HTML page editor Composer into one product. It offers preinstalled add-ons such as the IRC client Chatzilla, the DOM Inspector web development tools, and the Lightning calendar-scheduler. This new release includes fixes and changes from the current Firefox codebase (SeaMonkey 2.53 is based on the Firefox 60.8 browser engine with security-related fixes and some enhancements ported from the latest Firefox branches). <\/p>\n

Version 2.53.20 features a new implementation of the bookmark manager based on the Firefox Library interface. A new interface for customizing the color scheme has been added to the configurator, changing the browser.display.prefers_color_scheme parameter. The installer ensures registration of MIME types processed in SeaMonkey. <\/p>\n

A major cleanup of the Chatzilla IRC client codebase has been conducted, addressing identified shortcomings. For instance, the built-in Array object has been utilized in Chatzilla instead of the arrayContains, arrayIndexOf, arrayRemoveAt, and arrayInsertA handlers, the Trim method from the JavaScript String object has replaced the stringTrim handler, and the LocalFile API is now used instead of fopen. Issues related to using the IRC protocol over TLS have also been resolved.
