\"Rhino <\/a> <\/p>\n

The release of Rhino Linux 2025.1, based on Ubuntu and offering a rolling-release model, has occurred, meaning the system continuously updates without the need for reinstallation.<\/p>\n

The new version 2025.1 features several significant improvements and new functionalities. One of the main highlights is the support for dynamic workspaces in Unicorn Desktop, which allows new workspaces to be created automatically upon opening applications. A new customizable GRUB boot screen has also been added, giving the system a more modern appearance.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a new test meta-package called Rhino Stampede has been introduced to facilitate the testing of new features by users and developers. The new version also includes a companion app, Hello Rhino, developed using Rust and IcedTK, which provides quick access to the Rhino Linux homepage, blog, Discord community, and documentation.<\/p>\n

Rhino Linux 2025.1 runs on Linux kernel 6.12, using Pacstall 6.1.0 as its package manager, inspired by AUR. For PINE64 images, Linux kernel 6.9 is used, while Linux kernel 6.11 is utilized for Raspberry Pi.<\/p>\n

This release also fixed several issues, such as the absence of the 'Install Rhino Linux' icon on the desktop when booting from the live image. The unicorn-desktop-git package was switched to architecture-specific builds for better dependency management, and the development of cortile was moved inside Pacstall for improved update handling.<\/p>\n
