The release of the Pale Moon 33.6.0 web browser has been published, which forked from the Firefox codebase to ensure higher performance, maintain a classic interface, minimize memory consumption, and provide additional customization options. Pale Moon builds are available for Windows and Linux (x86_64). The project code is distributed under the MPLv2 (Mozilla Public License). <\/p>\n
The project adheres to a classic interface organization, without transitioning to the integrated Australis and Photon interfaces in Firefox 29 and 57, and provides extensive customization capabilities. Removed components include DRM, Social API, WebRTC, PDF viewer, Crash Reporter, code for collecting statistics, parental control tools, and accessibility features. Compared to Firefox, the browser reintroduces support for extensions using XUL and maintains the ability to apply both full and lightweight themes. <\/p>\n

A content sniffer for audio in ADTS and raw AAC formats has been implemented.\n
The AbortSignal.abort() and AbortSignal.timeout() methods have been introduced.\n
The ability to use the CSS pseudo-class «:modal» has been added.\n
The performance and efficiency of the Cycle Collector, the garbage collector for unused C++ objects, have been improved.\n
The Cookie storage database has been updated and is no longer using the BaseDomain column. The database will be converted to the new format upon the first launch after installing the update. After conversion, the profile will be incompatible with previous releases (rolling back to a previous version will not be possible).\n
CSS grid handling has been improved.\n
The built-in lists of root certificates and typical subdomains (eTLD, Public Suffix List) have been updated.\n
The Firefox version provided through the User-Agent header in compatibility mode (general.useragent.compatMode.version in about:config) has been updated from 102.0 to 115.0.\n
